I have been doing this....
We started the ticket system in our home with our children. They can do certain things & earn tickets and then every saturday they can cash their tickets in for prizes. These are their pouches I made to put their tickets that they have earned in.
This is my pouch to hold the tickets to be distributed.
This is a pleated coin pouch I made.
This is a play mat (blanket) I made for Spencer. He will have to earn 100 tickets to get it. He is on his way. He earned 10 today doing lots of chores around the house. He was very excited that he could be doing things to earn more tickets.
Emma is not as convinced. I made the little purse for her to earn, but I have not showed it to her yet, maybe then she will get more motivated to earn tickets.
I am planning on making a few more pouches for Emma's teachers at school. The first week in May is teacher appr. week.

I am disappointed, the Red Bud tree only stays in bloom for a short time. Boo!
I found this new website that is so much fun. www.makeitandloveit.blogspot.com Thanks to my new friend Dawn.
Also I have been at this site a lot www.modabakeshop.com. It is so fun and I love that she tells you how to do everything step by step, in a tutorial.
I want this book. I don't love everything about Martha, but I do love her style and choices for projects.
Here is one of the ideas from the show that I loved & want to try.
Here's an idea inspired by a project on the blog Cucumbersome.com: Turn an old shirt into a piece of wearable art that's quite grown-up.
Tools and Materials:
Soft cotton T-shirt
Ruler
Scissors or rotary cutter
T-Shirt Necklace How-To
1. Lay the shirt on a flat surface; cut off the hem and discard. Then cut the body of the shirt horizontally into strips approximately 3/4 of an inch long. (They will actually be loops.)
2. One at a time, pull the loops open and stretch until the fabric starts to curl. Stack the loops on top of one another so that all the T-shirt side seams are in the same spot.
3. Once you have the thickness you desire, wrap the seams with a scrap piece of fabric (about 6 inches long) from the same shirt. Tuck the end of the scrap under itself.

Sewing Projects.....finished
I have been promising my niece a skirt like Emma's patchwork skirt I did a while back. I finally got around to making it.
Emma asked me if she was really good at school if she could have a sewing lesson. I said yes. She was -she got perfect conduct and so we went to the fabric store, I let her choose her fabric to make a baby blanket for her dolls. This is the finished product. She did all the sewing and even helped me hand sew some of the buttons, then she got tired and asked me to finish. There were a lot of buttons and it took me till late in the evening to finish (Emma had gone to bed). So the next morning I said, "Emma here is your finished blanket." And she said, "oh, I love it. Mom since this took you so long to finish, I love you even more for all your hard work." I thought that was sweet of her to recognize the hours of work I put in to finish it for her. I love my Em.

New curtains
We found these curtains at IKEA in the AS IS bin, for $3.99 each (there are 4 of them). We saved for a bit to get the curtain rods from target. Steve got them and put them up on sat while I took Emma to the zoo. I was so surprised when I came home. I had to hem them and iron them but I am so glad they are done. They make our bedroom look nice.

The finished product
My first quilt. It has lots of mistakes but it is cute. I am hanging it on Emma's wall as a wall hanging.

skirts
I made these skirts today. The 1st one is the one with the contrasting white on bottom. I actually like the 2nd one better. I am so excited to see Emma wearing these. She is asleep right now, maybe I will go wake her. NOT!

Emma starts her little BLAST school on Sept 8. She is so excited and so am I. I start watching my neighbors baby 2 or 3 days a week. Starting tomorrow. He is 6 months old and is just a sweet little thing.
Steve is still running and has lost 30 lbs. I am still working out about 3 times a week and have lost 4 more lbs for a total of 15lbs. I look forward to my workouts and get as much as I can.
Being Primary President is very enjoyable although I am not gonna lie it has been hard. There have been long hours because of the ward slitting and all, but I really love being able to work with those children. It is truly a awesome. We had a Primary activity last Saturday. We did a missionary theme and the children got to make missionary badges, hear about a missionary that went to Japan and practice their missionary skills. Also they earned tickets that they got to cash in at the end for a "show". We watched the animated New Testament video about Jesus healing the sick. They got to get popcorn & candy & a drink & bring their blanket & pillow and watch it in the gym on the projector. It was fun!
Also last weekend we had a fun girls craft night. I got some fun scrapbook pages done.
The kids got to go to a friend's "pirate" birthday party. They had a ton of fun. Here are some pictures of Spencer with his "sword"!I have been practicing on Emma's hair, when she lets me, and I think I have french braiding down. Here is a side french braid.
We have been having fun around here.
Steve got a calling last week, he is the 12 yr old sunday school teacher. He is excited about that.
Well that is about all for now.
