I am so grateful for this man & this boy!

Many weeks ago my husband ran the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Dallas. I am so proud of him for making this a yearly goal. He beat his time from last year! YAY! Go Steve!

Many Faces of Emma

I absolutley love this little girl. I love every moment with her. She is so full of life and love for others. Every night I put her to bed and we usually spend lots of time talking about her day and reading together and praying and singing. This is my favorite time of day, she said the other night, I am going to fast for my Aunt Kelly ( my sister). I don't want her to be sad. If you don't know my sister is going through custody/ court with her ex-husband. On sunday she fasted for Kelly, it was her first time to fast. I walked in on her kneeling in the living room beside the recliner and I said "Emma get up and get dressed for church." I did not realize she was praying until she whispered "mom your interrupting my prayer- I am fasting for Aunt Kelly." I was so touched that she wanted to do this "hard thing" for her Aunt whom she loves so much.

Yesterday I was in the kitchen doing the dishes and I asked if she would help me dry the pots & pans. She said Yes and then when she was done she started sweeping the kitchen floor with out me asking her. I told her thank you for helping mommy. I love you.

I often tell her I love you, because she just warms my heart. She usually says that she loves me more than anyone in the world and she loves me all the way up in space.

I love volunteering at her school and getting to see her in the middle of the day. Spencer and I also love to go eat lunch with her. When we drop her off in the morning Spencer always tells her "I am going to miss you Emma" and today she was in a hurry and she did not hear him say this, so he started to cry because she did not answer him. Sorry kids I guess you got your tender feelings from your mama.

Halloween Begins in 2010

Yesterday we went to Steve's work to trick or treat. As always they did a great job decorating for the kids. They had a pirate Peter Pan area, an under the sea, Neverland, Toystory sections and a few more. So Fun! I love that we can participate in this tradition! Emma was Hawk Girl & Spencer was Flash, both from the Justice League. Super Heros to the Rescue!

Riding like a pro

So I got my wisdom tooth out yesterday & Steve took off to be with me all day. Things went great and I have very little suffering. YAY! Spencer also was sick yesterday. But let me assure you he is the kid you want when you have a sick kid, he never complains or anything. He is just more subdued and quiet. He is such a sweet boy. Here is a picture of dad eating lunch with little man.
This is a video of Emma riding her bike. See for yourself!

My Sweet Wolverine!

I love Emma! I have watched her grow so much. And for the update I promised: yes she is a bike rider! She can do it with no training wheels! It only took her 3 days of practicing and hour after school & she had it down. She loves riding everyday! She is one determined little girl. Not sure who she gets that from.

Time Out for Women

I got to attend Time Out for Women! The Theme was Infinite Hope! I enjoyed myself & learned so much, I will be going again. It was also fun to have time with my sister Kelly (middle) and my sister in law- Lavonda (right). I love these ladies! I also ran into so many of my old friends. Some from Baton Rouge and some from my old Stake & ward. I also had a great time with ladies from our ward! I loved it!

Emma and the bike

Emma asked yesterday if she could ride her bike with no training wheels. I said sure. So dad and I took turns helping her ride her bike. She wiped out a few times before she just started jumping off prematurly to save her self from a painful fall. She actually did really good for the very first time riding with no training wheels. She is brave and is already excited to practice again today. I am sure she will be riding in no time. I will keep yall updated.

Also Emma got green everyday this week in school. Her teacher emailed me and said her behavior has much improved and she thinks they are going to have a great year. I am so grateful she has a great teacher. I told her if she stayed on green all week then she would get a surprise. So I am taking her to Dairy Queen today! YAY for Emma.

Spencer is having a hard time adjusting to sister being gone all day, everyday. He really misses her- he says so alot & cries about it too. But I try my best to play with him and have things for him to do here at home. We have been working on him writing his letters and he loves it. He also loves playing trains and painting, and going to his playschool. He goes 2 days a week for 2 1/2 hours. So it is not much but enough for him to make friends and have some time away from mom. He has really good behavoior there and really loves the fact that his best friend & our next door neighbor goes to school there too.

Well that is all for now!

Froggie

If you look closely she has a baby froggie in her hand. Dad found it early this morning as he was leaving for work and knew the kids would fall in love. I think it is cute but I don't want to keep it and don't want it any where near me. She is truly an animal lover. She told me, "mom you have to be one with nature and its animals"

Gwen & Glen's 80 Birthday Party

My Grandmother and her brother celebrated their 80th bday with their entire (almost) family. It was a surprise party and it was a blast!

First day of School

Spencer's first day of Playschool (he only goes M & W from 8:30-11am) He said mom give me a high five & a kiss & did not cry when Steve & I left. What a big boy.

Emma's first day of Kindergarten. She did not cry, she sat right down at her desk and started coloring. I did not cry until I was walking out. I saw my neighbor Dana & we cried together. LOL

Update

My dad might loose his big toe. Please pray for him. He has diabetes and has not been doing well.

Emma went to a pretend sleepover party Sat for her friend H. and she had a great time. They did makeup, played games, made there own pizza and watched a movie among other things. She had a blast. Thanks Em.

My sewing machine has been broken so we took it to the Sear repair guy and paid $30 for him to tell me I needed a new foot controller. OK then when we got it back Steve looked at it even closer and took it apart, only to find a dime in it. Now it works. The funny thing is the Sears repair guy called me and said it was defective. I want my $30 back dude. Also he was gonna charge me $65 for a new foot pedal and $60 for labor (handing me that foot pedal). So I have to return the new foot pedal that is on its way. And yes I "declined" to have him fix it. I said I will save the $60 and order it myself, but now I don't even need it cause I have an awesome husband who is WAY better than a Sear repair guy. LOL

Steve and I went on a date Saturday. We went to Chef Point Cafe in Watuga. It is a restaurant inside a gas station. Well the food is supposed to be AWESOME! They were on the Food Network. Well it was yum. I will say but yeah not crazy about the atmosphere. I am a girl that likes to go to a nice place.

We get to tour Emma's new school tommorrow and she is so excited. It is about 95% built. She & I can't wait for her to start kindergarten on Aug 23. YAY! We have all her school supplies, backpack, lunch box, new clothes and shoes and we are ready for her to "get on the BUS." yes she is able to ride the bus, we live 2.6 miles from the school and you have to at least be 2 miles away to qualify. She is so excited!

Spencer is also very ready to go to his Playschool. We are blessed because his 2 teachers are the same women that taught Emma for the past 2 years. We know and love them.

Well I am still having a blast in Primary and Steve is enjoying working with the missionaries. I love it how the Lord sees fit to bless us even when we don't feel worthy of those blessings. He knows and loves us!

He was true and he died righteously...

I am preparing sharing time today. This sunday's theme is Following Jesus Christ's Example. I have been struggling alot with how to teach the JR primary the lessons we have in sharing time. I have been praying for help and guidance from my Heavenly Father. I have printed out footprints & I will put them on the floor in a circle and let these little children follow the circle path of the "Saviors footprints" while I am telling a story (in my own words) about the Savior. But I will be stopping a few times during the story and whom ever is standing on the "special" footprint they will get to choose a song out of the jar. We will sing one verse and then move on with the story - game. The songs will be all about people that followed the Savior or about us following him.

As I was looking for songs to include in my jar- I came across the song: Book of Mormon Stories p. 118 I was reading verse 4: It brought me to sudden tears as I read the story about one of my favorite men in the Book of Mormon. It says:

Don't forget Abinadi, who stood before the king.
All chained up from head to toe, the gospel he did bring.
If he would deny it, then the king would set him free.
He was true, and he died righteously.

It made me think about a challenge I am dealing with lately:
Sometimes we have righteous intentions but no matter what we do, others will not always realize that we mean no ill toward them but only have love towards them.
And no matter what our Heavenly Father loves us all.
