Good Book !Hu!

This is a cute pic of Spencer has nothing to do with what I am about to blog about. The book I just finished was Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. It is the book we are reading for book club. I went into it a little mad that I had to put aside "Twilght" in order to finish it in time for book club (because I was so into "Twilight" and did not want to put it down) BUT I was pleasanly surprised. It is an easy read & quick read (even for me) and I loved it. It is a story of a girl who grew up on a mountain and the Prince is going to pick his wife from among these mountain girls because the preiests said so and they have to go to this Academy to be refined and taught and there is a love interest and he picks a bride and it is just a really cute little story and it kept me guessing and surprised me. I would definatly recommend this book to one and all. Also no bad language or scenes.

Pumkin Patch Pictures

My sister came over with her kids and we went to the neighborhood Pumpkin Patch to take some photos. The kids were pretty tired so we only got a few.

This is Funny!

Before the cold weather week that is this week. We had some really beautiful days. A couple of those days we had fun times and picnics in the back yard! It was so fun!

LOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!

I am reading "Twilight" now and I am loving it. I picked up Steve's suit from the dry cleaner and the girl that works there is always reading a book. I always check out what she is reading and sure enough it was the ever popular, "Twilight". I told her I was reading the same book and she said it was awesome and that this was like the 5th time she was reading it.
I love the book but I don't know if I could read it twice. I love reading and watching movies but after the first time it looses all its luster for me. I was just talking to Steve about this because he is reading Lord of the Rings (again) and I asked him how he could read that book again. He said he likes it because there are things he misses the first time. Steve likes to skim books and not a read every detail. So my question to you is do you skim when you read or do you savor every detail and get it all the first time, not liking to repeat stories or movies. Or am I the only weird one out there who does not like to read the same thing twice.

Time Travelers Wife

Ok so I finally finished the book. This book is about a man named Henry and he involuntarily time travels. It is about the many times he visits his future wife Clare as a child. It is about him searching for a cure for his "illness" and all the adventures he has. While it was slow to start and interesting in the middle after that the book was way to predictable and had too many curse words and bad scenes for me. So while the story was interesting, I would not recommend this book.

Sick Sick Sick

Sorry I have no interesting things to blog about. We have all been sick around here. Well mainly the kids. We went to the doctor yesterday because it just was not going away. So they are on meds now. Spencer is the worst he has his 1st ear infection and a cold, cough, runny nose thing. Emma is just incredibly clingy. She freaks when I leave the room. Sigh!!!!!! It hopefully will pass soon.

Dr. Gober dds

Yes that is Emma's dentist's name. He is really kid friendly and Emma had great time getting her teeth polished and checked out. The dentist said we are a great job with the brushing and as seen above Emma got to pick out a new toothbrush and a toy. She was kinda nervous at first but did very well once she realized there was nothing to worry about.

Cute Pics of the children

Spencer and Emma

Our words are their future...

Well after being inspired by Elder Eyring's talk. I got on the computer and made another entry into my journal. It was kinda neat because I noticed it had been almost exactly one year since I had begun the journal. My entries were few but it was nice to see how our family has changed and grown. I had a strong feeling of thankfulness as I wrote and read from my journal. I hope my words will be a strength to my children in the future when they read them.

Reading

I have to admit I am kinda going a little crazy. I am not getting enough "Kathy Time" to read. I am engrossed in my current book "Time Travelers Wife" and can't wait to see what happens next but every time I pick it up my sweet children or husband are a calling. I have so many books on my list that I want to read but I can't even finish what I am currently reading. I know it is my own fault because I am doing other things (listening to all of conference) and preparing my sunday school lesson and cleaning house - we have to have dishes, and clean clothes, and we have to eat) well after all that there is no time left.) Maybe I need to get off the computer and read!

Funny Emmaisms

*We went out for ice cream and Emma walks right up to the counter and says "can I buy ice cream please?" The lady smiles and laughs and Emma covers her eyes with her hands. The lady says what flavor? And she says "chocolate".
*Today at Hobby Lobby Emma puts a bottle of bubbles on the counter and asks the lady " Lady can have these bubbles?" The lady looks at me & since they were only 34 cents and since she put away all the other more expensive things that she wanted to buy, I let her buy them.
*At Albertsons 2 days ago. I ran into an old friend I have not seen in forever. Some of you know her from the old Baton Rouge ward (carlin lavoulet). While we are talking and catching up Emma is loading my basket full of apples. I notice this and ask her to put them back. She said "but mom we need these apples!"
Hope you have a good laugh!

The Symbols of Christmas

A While back I showed the ornament I made at a RS activity day and it had pictures in the pocket in the back. Some of you asked for the whole list so they could share it with their families and make one of their own. So here it is. PS It is long.

The Symbols of Christmas

The Star- Helaman 14:5-6
The Shining Star was the Heavenly sign of promise of long ago ages. God promised a Savior for the world and the star was the sign of that fulfillment of that promise. The countless shining stars at night - one for each man- now show the burning hope for all mankind.

The Ornament- John 3:16
Red is the first color of Christmas. It was 1st used by the faithful people to remind them of the blood which was shed for all people by the Savior. Christ gave His life and shed his blood that every man might have God's gift of Eternal Life. It is the symbol of the gift of God.

The Tree - Alma 37:36
The pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round. It depicts the everlasting color of nature. All the needles point heavenward - symbols of man's returning thought toward Heaven. The great green tree has been man's best friend; it has sheltered him , warmed him, and made the world beautiful.

The Bell - Luke 15:4-7
The lost Sheep are found by the sound of the bell, it should ring for man to return to the fold - it means guidance and return, it further signifies that all are precious in the eyes of the Lord.

The Candle - Matt. 5:14-16
The candle shows man's thanks for the star of long ago. Its small light is the mirror of starlight. At first the candles were placed on the tree like many flowing stars shining against the dark green. The colored lights have now taken over remembrance.

The Gift/Bow- 1 Cor. 1:10
A bow is placed on a present to remind us of the spirit of the brotherhood of man. We should remember that the bow is tied as men should be tied, all of us together, with the bonds of good will toward each other. "Good will forever" is the message of the bow.

The Candy Cane - Jacob 2:17-19
The candy cane represents the shepherd crook. The crook on the staff helps bring back the strayed sheep to the flock. The candy cane represents the helping hand we should show at Christmas time. The candy cane is the symbol that we are our brother's keepers.

The Wreath - John 13:34-35
The wreath symbolizes the eternal nature of love; it never ceases, stops, or ends. It is one continuous round of affection.

Santa Claus - Moroni 7:46 (she said "by no way does she want to compare Santa to Christ - it was def. a stretch and just a reminder/symbol")
Santa Claus himself is a symbol. He is the personification of the spirit of selfless giving that is in our hearts at Christmastime.

The Stocking - Isaiah 1:18
The stocking brings to our mind the feet of the Apostles which Jesus washed before his eminent crucifixion upon the cross. This humble act of service done by the King of Kings sets forth the example that we all must follow by serving our fellow man without hesitation, fear or doubt.

The Snowflake - Isaiah 1:18
The snowflake is a symbol that reminds us of the cleansing power that comes through true repentance. Just as there are no two snowflakes alike, so is each of God's children different and unique, yet we all can receive that same forgiveness through the gift of the atonement.

The Angel - Luke 1:26-33 & Luke 2:11-14
The angel atop the tree reminds us of the angel sent down from God to Mary. The Holy messenger bringing "glad tidings of great joy", that the son of God would soon come to earth. We should also remember that multitude of Heavenly hosts that sang "Glory to God in the highest & on earth peace, good will toward men" when the tiny Savior was born unto her.

Table & Chairs

I have been meaning to post a picture of our new table and chairs. Well the chair are solid oak bought from Havertys. And Steve has been busy building the table to match. I am so thankful to have a wonderful husband who is willing and able to do this for our family. And thanks to Grandpa Fowler for teaching him how. Here is the progress on the table.

Tues Morning

Well I am sick of looking at the potty pictures when I get on my blog so I am going to post. Although I have nothing really to say.

Just a few thoughts:

-Why does my recently potty trained daughter have to get up every night in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom?

-My sister in law sent me a post about the soldiers in Iraq. It was awesome and I wanted to share it on my blog but I could not get it to all copy (pictures & words). Any ideas?

-I went to the RS Broadcast on sat and it was so awesome. I loved all the talks and felt the Spirit there. I had such a great experience I wanted to come home and share it with Steve. But he was in a bad mood cause the kids were horrible and as I tried to share some things it just did not go over so well.

-Last Friday I surprised Steve by taking him to one of his favorite places Pei Wei. It is kinda like a small PF Changs. Then last night for family night he surprised us by taking us to Braums for an ice cream cone.

-I love that my daughter comes in when she wakes up and wants to be held and cuddled. That is the OLNY time of day that happens.

-I love that my son will be 11 months in 2 days and he is taking 8 or so steps. It is so cute.

-My favorite time of day is getting up with my husband before he leaves for seminary and talking with him in bed at night before we go to sleep. I love these times because the kids are usually asleep and it is our only time alone.
